    Same here in the UK. Over half the population never votes, so we are forever ruled by a minority that was not elected by the majority. I don’t know the answer to motivating the apathetic masses, that’s for sure. Other factors apply. Boundary changes favour incumbents, and people still often vote the same way as their parents, and grandparents, without ever examining the issues.

    Our national, federal election, especially the presidential election is such a rigged scam. I don’t know how much you know about it, but we have this phenomenon known as the “electoral college” as well as easily hacked electronic voting machines that suggest to me that one’s vote doesn’t really count and the president is basically appointed by the ruling class. During the last presidential election I was part of a campaign to boycott the election. I still think that’s the right thing to do for the foreseeable future; however, local, municipal elections and possibly even state elections may be a different story under the right conditions.
