Learning Truth from Fiction: “Boardwalk Empire – Season 4, Episode 12” (2013)

J. Edgar Hoover: You seem to be a clever fellow. Who do you think gets to decide what the truth is?

Dr. Valentin Narcisse: The truth is what those in power wish it to be.

I wonder how many people really pay close attention to things like this when they’re watching a show, and then reflect on it and internalize the lesson? – P.C.

I haven’t seen the show, but it is a very good line. Must have talented writers.
    Regards from England. Pete.

I don’t get into very many shows or movies these days, but I’ve enjoyed this one. The writers really did their homework on the period, which is prohibition America. The show follows the exploits of fictional and some real-life gangsters like Al Capone. It’s pretty violent at times, but they do a great job of transporting you back in time to the “roaring twenties.” There are lessons to be learned about how powerful and ambitious men operate whether within or without the law.
