Lame Political Clichés: “Voices Heard”

“We demand that our voices be heard! Wait, stop – why are you laughing?”

I have heard this cliché one too many goddamn times these past few days. Could there possibly be a more pathetic, cringing, groveling phrase than: “We want our voices to be heard.”?!

What good is that – to have your voice heard – when those in power scoff and laugh at you and don’t give one whit about what you have to say; that is, if they really even bother to listen in the first place? Personally, I don’t give a shit about my “voice being heard.” What I care about is having my will be done. I care about having the policies put in place that I want, and to have the kind of society that I want.

Very true. ‘Hearing’ and ‘Listening’ are very different things.
    Best wishes, Pete.
