  2. This might seem like a minor detail, but I don’t see this as Google being “co-opted” as much as a partnership between industry and the “intelligence” community. There is a long history in the U.S. of collusion between business, the Department of Defense and spy networks. After all, our foreign affairs are run by the desires of corporate predators. We invade nations to steal resources. It’s mostly about the money. Control helps keep the profits rolling in.

      • Yes. It can seem like a matter of semantics, but there is a difference. In my opinion, in recent decades it is the corporate leaders who actually run the show and make the initial moves to get those in government to do their bidding. They have control over most of the resources and entice the weaker members of government (most of them, thanks to Capitalism) with offers of money and positions in business with huge salaries after leaving office. As a matter of fact, these days they simply purchase positions in the government (due to private campaign finance) and put pliable employees in place. We obviously need to get money out of politics and move forward from there.
